I pretty firmly believe that the meta is too insane for this card to be good. All the tempo you lost sitting back and healing would still be lost. Even if you could consistently play it on turn 5, it’s not that great. ![]() Building around healing is bad, the payout isn’t good. If elementals get more support it could just be good. Ruby will probably see play when Cabalist Tome leaves to try and fill the void in quest mage. It simply needs to be upgradable in a deck that doesn’t suck. If it was less death rattles, or we had more better deathrattles, or we got a cheap echo deathrattle. I was pretty heavily invested in Conceed Shaman, now I’m just disappointed. But it’s worse than demons, worse than big Priest, and dies to aggro. You can play a threat and Ancestor’s Call it then clone it next turn. Pearl Spellstone just seems to be unreliable, since Paladin doesn't have a consistent way to damage themselves.Īre there any ways to make these 4 cards better in Standard while they're here? If so, what ideas could make them better? Cards like Twilight's Call and Sonya Shadowdancer did a really nice job of buffing up the Priest and Rogue Quests, so ideas like that are what I'm thinking of for the Spellstones.Ruby Spellstone hasn't seen any use because Secret synergy outclasses everything in Mage.Onyx Spellstone doesn't have enough quality deathrattles to work well in Rogue, even though it's effect can swing games. In standard though, it sucks because Shaman sucks. Sapphire Spellstone works great in Wild where Shaman has more draw power and stronger resurrection, duplication, and burn tools. However, the other 4 Spellstones have largely fallen flat. Two others have seen less play, but have still found homes in Big Priest (Diamond Spellstone) and Pirate Spiteful Warrior before the neutral nerfs (Mithril Spellstone). Three of them (Amethyst, Jasper, and Emerald) have been amazing additions to Control Warlock variants, Ramp Druid variants, and Spell Hunter variants. The Spellstones were such a great idea that KnC gave us.
